Already violence is linked to new drink laws in the local area. According to local paper violence in the town last weekend, has been linked to the introduction of 24-hour drinking. Three young men from Keighley, who had been on a night in the town last Friday, were badly beaten by another group just after 2am on Saturday morning, leaving one of the victims in hospital. The victims had been walking through the town centre when they got into an argument with another group, and it ended up in violence, with all three of the Yorkshiremen being attacked.

Already violence is linked to new drink laws.

According to local paper the Colne Times violence in the town last weekend, has been linked to the introduction of 24-hour drinking.

They were punched and kicked, and although two escaped with minor injuries, the third was taken to Burnley General Hospital with injuries to the side of his face and a swollen eye.
He had been kicked and punched around the head and body as he lay on the ground.

Sgt Fryer of Nelson police, said "The two groups did not know each other - they simply met on the street, so I wouls suspect that this was an unprovoked attack.
"It ties in with the extended drinking hours - a lot of pubs in the town are opening longer and we don't want to see more violence in our town centres."
"it is disappointing to see something like this. These lads have obviously come to the town for a night out and ended up getting themselves assaulted."
Police are scanning CCTV to find out more about the attack, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

How are the new drinking hours affecting the towns and cities where you live, please let us know.

This is becoming all too common these days and whether it's down to the change in drinking laws is debatable.

Whilst it seems we will never stop unprovoked attacks, we can at least be prepared in case we are ever unfortunate enough to suffer one.

Personal attack alarms and self defence sprays offer good peace of mind when away from our homes.
A personal attack alarm will alert others in the surrounding area of an attack whereas a defence spray will leave the attacker surprised and covered in a traceable sticky goo. These devices are legal in the UK.

They're not expensive - you can find a complete range at: http://www.top4security.co.uk/shop/rape-alarms/home.html

Stay safe.
